Warm sea, beautiful weather, local events, fewer crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere — September might just be the perfect time to discover the Crikvenica Riviera.

When summer starts to wind down, the Crikvenica Riviera doesn’t simply go quiet. In many ways, September is when the destination becomes even more enjoyable.
The intense heat of July and August begins to ease, the Adriatic Sea is still inviting, local events continue, and the promenades and beaches become noticeably more relaxed. And for visitors looking for a holiday that offers great value without giving up the pleasures of summer, September can be an excellent choice.
At H&I Tourist Agency, we provide accommodation on the Crikvenica Riviera, but our role doesn’t end when you check in. We are also happy to share local information, recommendations and advice with our guests — helping you discover the places and experiences that suit you best.
So, why should you consider the beginning of September for your next stay?
1. Summer isn’t over yet
One of the biggest misconceptions about September is that the summer season is already finished.
It isn’t.
The beginning of September can still feel very much like summer on the Crikvenica Riviera. Days are generally warm and pleasant, while the strongest heat of the peak season has usually passed. This makes it a particularly comfortable time for enjoying the coast without feeling like you have to hide from the midday sun.
The sea is also still warm from the long summer months, making September a wonderful time for swimming, relaxing on the beach or taking a leisurely walk along the coast.
And when the temperature drops slightly in the evening, it’s perfect for sitting outside with dinner, enjoying a drink or taking an evening stroll along the waterfront.
2. More space, less stress
July and August are the busiest months on the Croatian coast.
By September, the atmosphere changes.
There are still visitors enjoying the Riviera, but the biggest summer crowds begin to disappear. Beaches can feel more peaceful, restaurants and cafés are easier to enjoy, and exploring the towns becomes a much more relaxed experience.
Instead of planning your day around avoiding the crowds, you can simply enjoy the Riviera at your own pace.
Take a morning swim. Have a long lunch. Explore the old streets of Crikvenica. Stop for coffee. Walk along the promenade in the evening.
September gives you time to slow down.
3. September brings local events and a taste of tradition
The end of summer doesn’t mean the end of events.
In fact, the transition from August into September is one of the most interesting periods on the local calendar.
A great example is Fishermen’s Week in Crikvenica, one of the Riviera’s long-standing traditional events. In 2026, Fishermen’s Week takes place from 29 August to 5 September, bringing music, maritime traditions, workshops, sporting activities, boat events and entertainment to Crikvenica.
4. A better time for exploring
September is also a great month to do more than just lie on the beach.
With more comfortable temperatures and fewer people around, it’s an ideal time for exploring the entire Crikvenica Riviera — from Crikvenica itself to Selce, Dramalj and Jadranovo.
Go for a coastal walk, discover smaller beaches and coves, visit local attractions, take a boat trip or simply wander without a strict itinerary.
The Riviera is compact enough that you can easily combine relaxing days by the sea with excursions and exploration.
And if you aren’t sure what is worth seeing, ask us!
One of the advantages of staying with H&I is having local people you can turn to for suggestions. Whether you’re looking for a quiet beach, a family-friendly activity, a good place for dinner, a scenic walk or ideas for a day trip, we’re happy to share our local knowledge.

5. Your holiday budget can go further
Another reason September is attractive is value.
Once the peak summer period is over, accommodation prices can become more affordable than during July and August. With fewer peak-season crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere, your holiday can offer a particularly good balance between price and experience.
This is especially appealing for couples, families and travellers who don’t necessarily need to travel during the busiest part of the summer.
Instead of paying peak-season prices simply because it’s July, you can enjoy the same beautiful Adriatic coastline a little later — and often with more peace and flexibility.
6. The Riviera feels more local
Perhaps the best thing about September is something that is difficult to put into statistics.
The atmosphere feels different.
Summer visitors are still here, but the rhythm is slower. Locals have more time to stop for a conversation. You can sit by the sea without feeling surrounded by hundreds of people. The evenings feel calmer, while the town still has plenty of life.
It is a chance to experience the Crikvenica Riviera not only as a summer holiday destination, but as a real coastal community.
And that’s something we think is worth experiencing.
So, is September a good time to visit Crikvenica?
We think so.
If your idea of a perfect Croatian holiday includes warm days, a refreshing Adriatic Sea, beautiful coastal scenery, local food, interesting events and enough peace to actually relax, the beginning of September ticks a lot of boxes.
You still get the best parts of summer — but without quite as much heat, traffic and crowds.
And if you are planning your stay on the Crikvenica Riviera, H&I Tourist Agency is here to help with accommodation and local advice.
Book your September stay, and when you arrive, ask us what is happening, where to go and what not to miss.
Sometimes the best recommendations aren’t found in a guidebook — they’re the ones you get from someone who knows the Riviera.
